Summary
LAST week, the Scottish Executive made a statement on its policy for affordable housing. We responded by saying we were encouraged that it was thinking along the right policy lines, but the proof of its commitment would require actual funding. This week it has been given the opportunity to fund its promises.
It could do worse than take a leaf from what the UK government is doing in England and Wales, where the housing development budget is set to increase by 50%. I am sure the executive doesn't want Scotland to be the poor relation of England and Wales in housing terms, so I hope we can look forward to a similar increase.
