Summary


I LIVE in a village in the Vale of York where last month a planning application for wind turbines was submitted to Selby District Council. Up to 15 similar applications are in the pipeline in the district.

These 125ft-high turbines dwarf the Drax power station cooling towers. They are far larger than other land-based turbine because in their intended location, one of the largest rural valleys in the country, they will have to be to reach prevailing winds.
