The Lord Chancellor and the Lord Advocate, in exercise of the power conferred on them by section 16(3) of the Private International Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 19951, hereby make the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Private International Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1995 (Commencement) Order 1996.

2. Part III of the Private International Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1995 shall come into force on 1st May 1996.

This Order appoints 1st May 1996 as the day on which Part III of the Private International Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1995 shall come into force for the whole of the United Kingdom. Part III establishes new choice of law rules in relation to proceedings brought in England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland in respect of a tort or delict.
