The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 38(5) and 42(8) of the National Health Service Reform and Health Care Professions Act 20021, hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1. This Order may be cited as the National Health Service Reform and Health Care Professions Act 2002 (Isles of Scilly) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 8th February 2003.
Application of the National Health Service Reform and Health Care Professions Act 2002 to the Isles of Scilly
2. The National Health Service Reform and Health Care Professions Act 2002, apart from sections 6 (Local Health Boards), 9 (funding of Local Health Boards) and 24 (health and well-being strategies in Wales) and Schedules 4 (Local Health Boards) and 5 (amendments relating to Local Health Boards), shall extend to the Isles of Scilly with the modification that, in the application of those provisions to those Isles, any reference to a local authority is to be construed as a reference to the Council of the Isles of Scilly2.

This Order extends to the Isles of Scilly, as from 8th February 2003, the provisions of the National Health Service Reform and Health Care Professions Act 2002, apart from those provisions that have effect only in relation to Wales. The provisions concerned relate to the organisation of the National Health Service and the regulation of the health care professions. The Order includes an appropriate modification of the references to a local authority.
