The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament in accordance with section 1 of the European Communities Act 1972 ( a) and has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1(3) of the European Communities Act 1972 or otherwise in Her Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the European Communities (Definition of Treaties) (Agreement on Customs Union and Co-operation between the European Economic Community and the Republic of San Marino) Order 1993. It shall come into force, in respect of the treaty specified in the Schedule to this Order, on the date on which the treaty enters into force for the United Kingdom. This date will be notified in the London, Edinburgh and Belfast Gazettes.

2. The treaty specified in the Schedule to this Order is to be regarded as a Community Treaty as defined in section 1(2) of the European Communities Act 1972.

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order declares the Agreement on Customs Union and Co-operation between the European Economic Community and the Republic of San Marino, signed on 16th December 1991, to be a Community Treaty as defined in section 1(2) of the European Communities Act 1972. The Agreement promotes comprehensive co-operation between the Member States of the Community and the Council of the European Communities of the one part and the Republic of San Marino of the other part with the aim of contributing to the social and economic development of the Republic and the strengthening of relations between the parties.
