HEARING AID COUNCIL

The Hearing Aid Council Monetary Penalty (Increase)

Order 1993

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the power conferred on him by section 7(6) of the Hearing Aid Council Act 1968 (a) hereby makes the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Hearing Aid Council Monetary Penalty (Increase) Order 1993 and shall come into force on 31st December 1993.

2. In section 7(1)(ii) of the Hearing Aid Council Act 1968 ( b)for the figure of "£1000" there shall be substituted the figure of "£5000".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order increases the maximum Monetary Penalty which may be imposed by the Disciplinary Committee of the Hearing Aid Council from £1000 to £5000. The Council was established under section 1 of the Hearing Aid Council Act 1968 and the Disciplinary Committee was set up in exercise of the powers conferred on the Council under section 6 of that Act. The Committee considers and determines disciplinary cases and under section 7(1) of the Act may impose penalties including a monetary penalty.
