Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament in accordance with section 1 of the European Communities Act 19721and has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1(3) of the European Communities Act 1972 or otherwise in Her Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

S-1 This Order may be cited as the European Communities (Definition...

1. This Order may be cited as the European Communities (Definition of Treaties) (Partnership and Co-operation Agreement between the European Communities and their Member States, and Ukraine) Order 1995. It shall come into operation in respect of the treaty specified in the Schedule to this Order on the date on which the Agreement enters into force for the United Kingdom. This date will be notified in the London, Edinburgh and Belfast Gazettes.

2. The treaty specified in the Schedule to this Order is to be regarded as a Community Treaty as defined in section 1(2) of the European Communities Act 1972.

Partnership and Co-operation Agreement between the European Communities and their Member States, and Ukraine2.

This Order declares the Partnership and Co-operation Agreement between the European Communities and their Member States, and Ukraine signed on 14 June 1994 by the Communities and the Member States to be a Community Treaty as defined in section 1(2) of the European Communities Act 1972. The Agreement establishes a partnership which has as one objective the provision of a framework for political dialogue between the Parties. Other objectives include the promotion of trade and investment, providing a basis for different aspects of co-operation and supporting democracy and a market economy in Ukraine.
