The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 1 and 20 of the Legal Aid Act 1974(a), as amended by the Legal Aid Act 1979(b), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Advice and Assistance (Financial Conditions) (No. 3) Regulations 1979 and shall come into operation on 12th November 1979.

(2) In these Regulations "the Act" means the Legal Aid Act 1974 as amended by the Legal Aid Act 1979, "the 1979 Regulations" means the Legal Advice and Assistance (Financial Conditions) (No. 2) Regulations 1979(c), and other expressions have the same meaning as in the Act.

2. For the weekly sum of £75 specified in section 1(1)(a) of the Act, as amended by the 1979 Regulations, there shall be substituted the weekly sum of £85.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This Note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations increase the disposable income limit for eligibility or legal advice and assistance under the Legal Aid Act 1974 from £75 to £85 a week.
