The Social Security (Treasury Supplement to Contributions) Order 1984

Whereas a draft of the following Order was laid before Parliament in accordance with the provisions of section 167(1) of the Social Security Act 1975(a) and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State for Social Services, with the consent of the Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 1(5A) of the Social Security Act 1975(b) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf hereby makes the following Order:—

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Social Security (Treasury Supplement to Contributions) Order 1984 and shall come into operation on 6th April 1984.

(2) In this Order "the Act" means the Social Security Act 1975.

Alteration of Treasury supplement to contributions

2. In section 1(5) of the Act (Treasury supplement to contributions to be a fixed percentage of so much of all contributions paid in the year concerned as remains after deducting the appropriate national health service allocation and the appropriate employment protection allocation)(c) for the words "13 per cent."(d) there shall be substituted the words "11 per cent.".

(a) 1975 c.14; section 167(1) was amended by the Social Security (Contributions) Act 1981 (c.1), section 4(5).

(b) Section 1(5A) was inserted by the Social Security (Contributions) Act 1981, section 2(2), and was amended by the Social Security (Contributions) Act 1982 (c.2), section 2(2).

(c) Section 1(5) was amended by the Social Security (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1977 (c.5), section 24(6) and Schedule 2.
