LEGAL AID AND ADVICE, ENGLAND AND WALES

The Legal Advice and Assistance (Financial Conditions) Regulations 1982

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 1 and 20 of the Legal Aid Act 1974(a), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Advice and Assistance (Financial Conditions) Regulations 1982 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1982.

(2) In these Regulations, "the Act" means the Legal Aid Act 1974.

2. For the weekly sum of £85 specified in section l(l)(a) of the Act(b), there shall be substituted the weekly sum of £93.

3. For the capital sum of £600 specified in section 1(1) of the Act(c), there shall be substituted the sum of £655.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This Note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations increase the disposable income limit for the availability of legal advice and assistance under the Legal Aid Act 1974 from £85 to £93 a week and increase the disposable capital limit from £600 to £655.
