The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Secretary of State for Wales, the Secretary of State for Scotland (being the Secretary of State concerned with agriculture in Scotland) and the Secretary of State for the Home Department (being the Secretary of State concerned with agriculture in Northern Ireland) in exercise of the powers vested in them by section 1 of the Agriculture Act 1937(a), as amended by section 27 of the Agriculture (Miscellaneous War Provisions) Act 1940(b) and section 1 of the Agriculture (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1943(c) and amended and extended by section 97 of the Agriculture Act 1947(d), and by Article 3 of, and paragraph 5 of Schedule 2 to, the Transfer of Functions (Wales) Order 1969(e) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, with the approval of the Treasury, hereby make the following Scheme:—

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) This Scheme may be cited as the Agricultural Lime (Temporary Increase of Subsidy) Scheme 1970 and shall come into operation on 19th March 1970.

(2) This Scheme shall be read as one with the Agricultural Lime Schemes 1966 and 1970(f) (hereinafter referred to as " the principal Schemes ".)

Increase of contributions for year ending 18th March 1971

2.—(1) Where, in accordance with the paragraph numbered 1 under the heading " Additional Contributions " in Part I of Schedule 1 to the Agricultural Lime Scheme 1966, an additional contribution may be made in respect of any lime, being lime which is delivered to an occupier or to an approved association during the period beginning with 19th March 1970 and ending with 18th March 1971, the Ministers may, in place of the additional contribution for which provision is made by the said paragraph, make an additional contribution equivalent to one quarter of the contribution which would otherwise alone be payable under the principal Schemes.

(2) Where, in accordance with the principal Schemes, a contribution may be made in respect of the cost of acquiring, transporting and spreading any lime, being lime which is delivered to an occupier or to an approved association during the period beginning with 19th March 1970 and ending with 18th March
