- ZOGENIX BUYS UK'S BRABANT PHARMA
US pharmaceutical company Zogenix Inc (NASDAQ:ZGNX) said it had taken over UK peer Brabant Pharma in a deal worth up to USD130m (EUR102.3m).

- GRYPHON INVESTORS TAKES OVER C B FLEET
US private equity firm Gryphon Investors said it had purchased a majority interest in domestic consumer healthcare manufacturer C B Fleet Company, or Fleet Laboratories.

- DANFOSS PUSHES VACON BID DEADLINE TO 21 NOV
Danish mechanical and electronic components maker Danfoss A/S said it had extended to 21 November the acceptance period for its EUR34.00 (USD43.11) per share offer for Finnish AC drives manufacturer Vacon Oyj (HEL:VAC1V) as the previous deadline was set to expire on 28 October 2014.

- SYROS PHARMACEUTICALS SECURES USD53M IN SERIES B ROUND
US gene control therapies developer Syros Pharmaceuticals said it had collected USD53m (EUR41.8m) in a Series B funding round with an unidentified Boston-based public investment firm in the lead.

- OAKTREE TO BUY HESS STAKE IN HETCO
US private equity group Oaktree Capital Management LP is buying into domestic energy commodities trader Hess Energy Trading Company LLC (HETCO), acquiring the stake currently held by Hess Corporation (NYSE:HES).

- IMATCHATIVE SECURES USD20M FROM VC BACKERS
US superior data aggregation and analysis specialist IMatchative Inc said it had raised USD20m (EUR16m) in a Series B funding round led by Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC), Control Empresarial de Capitales SA de CV, David Bonderman and Andy Redleaf.

- CUTRALE-SAFRA AGREE USD1.3BN DEAL FOR CHIQUITA
Brazilian orange juice maker Cutrale Group and investment company Safra Group have inked a definite agreement to acquire US fresh produce distributor Chiquita Brands Inc (NYSE:CQB) in a deal valued at some USD1.3bn (EUR1bn) in enterprise terms, the parties said in a joint statement.

- IBERIABANK TO BUY OLD FLORIDA FOR USD259M
Iberiabank Corp (NASDAQ:IBKC) has inked a definitive agreement to buy Old Florida Bancshares Inc for a total consideration of around USD259m (EUR204.2m), the US bank holding companies said in a joint press release.

- CONTINENTAL, SK UNIT FORM JV FOR NORTHWEST CANA GAS ASSETS
US crude oil and natural gas explorer Continental Resources Inc (NYSE:CLR) said it had established a joint venture with a US unit of South Korea's SK E&S Co Ltd for the development of its Northwest Cana Woodford natural gas assets located in Blaine and Dewey, Oklahoma.

Canadian drug maker Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc (TSE:VRX) said it was willing to further improve its cash-and-stock bid for US sector player Allergan Inc (NYSE:AGN), declaring so in a letter sent to the target's board.
