THE ALIENS (EMPLOYMENT) (FORMER PRISONERS OF WAR) ORDER, 1947, DATED JULY 3, 1947, MADE BY THE SECRETARY OF STATE UNDER ARTICLE 11 OF THE ALIENS ORDER, 1920, AS SUBSEQUENTLY AMENDED.

In pursuance of the power conferred upon me by Article 11 of the Aliens Order, 1920(a), as subsequently amended, I hereby order as follows:—

1. An alien to whom this Order applies shall not—

(a) enter into, or continue in, any employment in the service of an employer in Great Britain without the permission of the Minister of Labour and National Service or in Northern Ireland without the permission of the Ministry of Labour and National Insurance for Northern Ireland; or

(b) become, or continue to be, engaged in any business, profession or occupation for reward, otherwise than in employment in the service of an employer, in the United Kingdom without the permission of the Secretary of State:

Provided that an alien may continue in any employment or continue to be engaged in any business, profession or occupation for reward if before the coming into force of this Order he entered into that employment or engaged in that business, profession or occupation with the permission or approval of a county war agricultural executive committee, the Minister of Labour and National Service or the Secretary of State.
