Release date- 28072021 - AM Best will moderate a session focused on innovation and the state of the captive insurance market at the 2021 Vermont Captive Insurance Association's (VCIA) Annual Conference.

AM Best also will participate in other capacities, including as a platinum sponsor of the event. The VCIA conference takes place Aug. 10-12, 2021.

John Andre, AM Best managing director, will moderate a session titled 'Rising to the Challenges: Coverage & Innovation.' The discussion will center on the ways captive insurers can implement innovative solutions to address shortfalls in owner insurance protections caused by the vagaries of the market. Other topics to be explored are as the impact of the hard market on the captive industry and the potential impacts on captive insurers' performance and operations as a result of adding new lines of business. The session is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.-11:20 a.m. (EDT) on Aug. 10.

Andre has more than 30 years' experience with AM Best and is responsible for a broad array of U.S., Bermuda and Caribbean-based property/casualty writers focused on national personal lines and local and regional coverages, as well as captive insurers and companies writing professional liability, specialty commercial and title insurance.

This year marks the 21th year that AM Best has sponsored the VCIA conference, which offers a multitude of seminars focused on captive insurance trends and networking opportunities. As part of a retooled online format, AM Best will take part in a Solution Lab, in which conference participants can learn about the rating agency, its role in the insurance industry and the resources it offers to insurance professionals, including Best's Credit Ratings, insurance data and analytic resources and financial data products.
