In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 8 of the Rent Act 1977 ( a) and paragraph 8 of Schedule 1 to the Housing Act 1988 ( b), the Secretary of State for Education hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Assured and Protected Tenancies (Lettings to Students) (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 1st November 1993.
2.-(1) Schedule 1 to the Assured and Protected Tenancies (Lettings to Students) Regulations 1988 ( c) is amended by the substitution of the name "Oxford Brookes Housing Association Limited" for "Oxford Polytechnic Housing Association Limited".
(2) Schedule 2 to the said Regulations is amended by-
(a) the addition of "International Students' Club (Lee Abbey) Limited"; and(b) the deletion of "Brighton Polytechnic Housing Association Limited".John Patten |

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
These Regulations amend Schedule 2 to the Assured and Protected Tenancies (Lettings to Students) Regulations 1988 to specify International Students' Club (Lee Abbey) Limited for the purposes of paragraph 8 of Schedule 1 to the Housing Act 1988. One body is deleted from Schedule 2, Brighton Polytechnic Housing Association Limited which has been wound up. The effect of specification is that a tenancy granted by the body to a student at an educational institution is not an assured tenancy for the purposes of the 1988 Act.
Schedule 1 to the 1988 Regulations is amended so as to take account of the change in name of one body listed therein.
