Villa told to take action on Barry loan

Aston Villa youngster Louie Barry joined Ipswich Town on loan ahead of the start of the 2021/22 League One season but has so far been used sparingly by manager Paul Cook.

Barry is yet to score for the Tractor Boys this season and has only played 68 minutes in the league after making two appearances.

Ipswich are yet to win a game in any competition this term and Barry has barely featured for Cook's side.

Barry has been an unused substitute for five of Ipswich's first seven League One games and has only started one competitive game, in a 1-0 defeat against Newport County in the Carabao Cup.

Smith rates his squad 'better' this season

Aston Villa fell to a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night despite Dean Smith's side impressing for large parts of the game.

A Romelu Lukaku double helped Thomas Tuchel's side claim their third win of the Premier League season as the £96million man proved his worth against a Villa side who have lost more games they have won since the start of the season last month.

Despite facing two newly promoted sides, Newcastle United and now Chelsea, Villa have taken four points from a possible 12, but performances might have warranted a better points return.

Lukaku's strikes at Stamford Bridge came between a goal scored by Mateo Kovacic, who latched onto a mistake by Villa captain Tyrone Mings in the second half to extend the Blues' early lead.

Smith's will host Everton at Villa Park this coming weekend in what is likely to be another Premier League clash played in front of a sell-out crowd at B6.

The Villa boss might have lost Jack Grealish for £100million this summer, but he believes that Villa are now stronger without their former talisman.
