'Attack victim' is taken to hospital

Police and ambulance services flooded Southfield Road in Middlesbrough shortly before midnight on Saturday after receiving reports of an injured man.

One witness said he believed someone had been attacked and suffered head injuries. A North

East Ambulance Service spokesman said it was called to the road at 11.46pm on Saturday.

He said: "We had reports of a man injured in Southfield Road.

"A medicar was despatched with a paramedic and a police officer.

"Ambulance crew were also called and the patient was transported to James Cook Hospital."
