Backing for women in agriculture

The BeYour Best Self scheme aims to support as many as 200 women over the next two years and comes on the back of a successful pilot programme in 2019-20.

The project is being supported by former NFU Scotland president, Lochfoot farmer Andrew McCornick.

The Holyrood funded scheme is part of the bid to make agriculture a fairer, more inclusive industry, where farm succession is not determined by gender, training is accessible to everyone and more women take on senior roles in organisations.

The programme has been backed by NFU Scotland after several team members took part in the pilot.

One of those was the head of the policy team, Gemma Cooper, who said:"From personal experience, this is an excellent programme and one that any woman working in Scottish agriculture should consider.
