The Bedford and Shires Health and Care and the South Bedfordshire Community Health Care National Health Service Trusts (Dissolution) Order 1999

Coming into force 1st April 1999
The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 126(3) of the National Health Service Act 19771and by section 5(1) of, and paragraph 29(1) of Schedule 2 to, the National Health Service and Community Care Act 19902and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, considering it appropriate in the interests of the health service to make this Order3, and after completion of the consultation prescribed under paragraph 29(3) of Schedule 2 to the latter Act4, hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1. This Order may be cited as the Bedford and Shires Health and Care and the South Bedfordshire Community Health Care National Health Service Trusts (Dissolution) Order 1999 and shall come into force on 1st April 1999.
Dissolution of NHS trusts
2.—(1) The Bedford and Shires Health and Care National Health Service Trust established by the Bedford and Shires Health and Care National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 19925shall be dissolved on 1st April 1999, and accordingly that Order revoked on that date.
(2) The South Bedfordshire Community Health Care National Health Service Trust established by the South Bedfordshire Community Health Care National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 19916shall be dissolved on 1st April 1999, and accordingly that Order revoked on that date.

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order dissolves on 1st April 1999:–
the Bedford and Shires Health and Care National Health Services Trust, and
the South Bedfordshire Community Health Care National Health Service Trust.
It should be read in conjunction with the Bedfordshire and Luton Community National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 19997, which establishes a new community NHS trust.
