Blue-chip firms seek FM honours: this year's conference will focus on shareholder value.

Leading companies in the FTSE 250, including HSBC, Procter & Gamble, Carlsberg-Tetley and BAE Systems have entered the CIMA/Financial Management Awards this year.

Now in their third year, the awards recognise outstanding achievements in the world of management accountancy. They will be presented to the business leader of the year; employer of the year (two categories); recruitment consultancy of the year; software implementation project of the year; contribution to management accounting; finance team of the year; part-qualified of the year; and tutor of the year.

The awards run alongside the CIMA annual conference in London (12-13 November), which focuses this year on the role of finance in increasing shareholder value and how to manage risks and opportunities. At a time when the FFSE 100 has seen huge reductions in share values, and when trust among investors has hit an all-time low there has never been a more important time to ensure that your organisation is focused on the issues that will enhance shareholder (and stakeholder) value.
