Bungard hails his 'Holytown Havoc'

The 32-year-old convincingly won his most recent battle, against Spain's Aratz 'Kamikaze' Garmendia at his own event at the General Motors Club on August 28, with a round one submission following an arm triangle choke.

That was a fledgling event run by Bungard's own 'Bad Guy Promotions' and feedback has been so good, he's planning on doing it again next year.

Other fighters to claim wins on an action-packed night included Jordan Stronge, Ryan Campbell, Max Birbal and Dean Housley.

In the meantime, Bungard is in talks over his next bout, but says there's a lot more to come from 'the Bad Guy'.

He told Press Sport: "It was good; there was a lot of work that was put into it, running the show and fighting in it, but it was all worth it in the end.

"I got the win, and my teammates got to showcase their skills as well.

"Through Covid there weren't a lot of shows happening, but the country was starting to open up, getting crowds in, and the fans hadn't been at a show in a good while.

"So it was probably the perfect time to do it - my teammates [at Scottish Hit Squad] hadn't fought for two years and stuff like that, and I was one year, so it was perfect.

"The fans loved it, it was all positive feedback from it, all the fights were great, and it was a win-win for everybody.

"It was a good win; we flew somebody in from Spain; a good, experienced opponent, and it was just good to get back in the 'win' column - I lost my last fight in Milan.

"It was good to get another victory under my belt, and another submission win. It was great just to get back out there - I think we all needed it, to be fair.

"You're climbing the walls, and for a long time you couldn't train with your teammates through Covid, so it was good to get back in, good to see live crowds and feel that competition under the lights and the cameras.

"It's different, especially because it was my home town, and that put a bit more added pressure...
