So, can Keir Starmer become Prime Minister We’ll take a look at how Sir Keir can come to power.

Can Keir Starmer become Prime Minister

Of course Keir Starmer can become Prime Minister. It’s just a case of whether he can get enough of the country’s backing.

Sir Keir was elected Labour leader in 2020 following the party's loss under Jeremy Corbyn at the 2019 General Election.

At that vote, the party lost 60 seats many of which had voted leave in the 2016 Brexit referendum.

Regardless, Labour need to find 124 constituencies to triumph in to get over the 326-seat majority needed in the House of Commons.

A report which came out at the end of last year looking at Labour’s latest General Election loss concluded that some of the seats they previously lost might be gone for good.

It also said the party had a ‘Northern problem’ and was seen to be too ‘London-centric’.

So, if Keir Starmer is going to get into power, he’s got a battle on his hands to convince voters of the merits of his party.
