The Car Tax (Vehicles for the Handicapped) Order 1984

The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 2(3) of the Car Tax Act 1983(a) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Car Tax (Vehicles for the Handicapped) Order 1984 and shall come into operation on 1st May 1984.

2. Section 2(2) of the Car Tax Act 1983 shall be varied by deleting paragraph (c) and by substituting therefor the following:

"(c) prison vans, ambulances and vehicles designed or substantially and permanently adapted for the carriage of a chronically sick or disabled person in a wheelchair or on a stretcher and of no more than five other persons;".
