Abstract
The primar y purpose of this stud y is to probe not only t he
key factors t hat might influence internati onal students’ at-
titude towards t he host country and t heir desire to stay
there, but also key elements that might e nhance their in-
tention to stay in the host country af ter completing their
studies. A total of 211 inter national students in Taiwan
participated in this study. Study re sults indicated interna-
tional students’ at titude and their desire to stay in the host
country were positively connec ted with their intention
to stay in the host count ry after completing their study.
Additionally, perceived behavioural control, perception of
the labour market and subjective norms strongly affect in-
ternational students’ at titude towards staying in the host
country. Third, positive anticipated em otion and negative
anticipated emot ion play a key role in determining the de -
sire to stay in the host country. The findings of t his study
suggest policy imp lications for establishing a more positive
immigration polic y.
