Why share information with the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA)

CICA is a Non-Departmental Public Body which administers the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme throughout England, Scotland and Wales and it sometimes requires HMRC information to help process its customers’ compensation claims.

Ensuring information is shared lawfully

The only way that HMRC may lawfully share customer information with the CICA is if the customer has provided consent for us to do so.

IDG30210 provides general information about obtaining customer consent but the specific procedure for obtaining customer consent in the case of CICA is outlined below.
