Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel gives frustrated response to transfer question amid Blues' woes

The loss of key personnel, such as Ben Chilwell and Reece James, has seriously hampered Chelsea's ability to keep pace with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City at the summit of the Premier League.

Tuchel has also been forced to change shape in recent weeks after running out of fit wing-backs.

But despite that, the Blues have so far been quiet in the transfer market - and Tuchel has offered no guarantees that will change in the final days of the winter window.

“I cannot say no to it. Also, I am not convinced it is a clear yes," the Blues boss said when he was quizzed on any potential new recruits prior to Chelsea's derby clash against Tottenham on Sunday.

The Blues boss had previously talked down the need for any new signings earlier this month - but that stance has seemingly now changed.

Chelsea decided against making a move for former Everton full-back Lucas Digne, who had been earmarked as a potential replacement for Chilwell. He instead wrapped up a £25million move to Aston Villa last week.

But since then, the Blues have been rebuffed in their attempts to recall left wing-back Emerson Palmieri from a season-long loan stint in France with Lyon.
