About 50 members and students attended a evening hosted by CIMA Nigeria at Lagos Business School on February 17. The event began with a discussion of the institute's activities in the country and featured a presentation by Tunji Oyebanji, chairman of Mobil Oil Nigeria, on the opportunities and challenges of fuel deregulation.

Trip to the Pearl River delta

January 8-10, Guangdong CIMA representatives joined those of other accounting bodies on a study trip to the Pearl River delta organised by the Accounting Resources Centre. They visited senior officials from the government and the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants and exchanged views about developments in the Guangdong region.

Owen Kelly, CEO of Scottish Financial Enterprise, gave an overview of developments affecting financial services in Scotland, looking in particular at how the industry is perceived and how it relates to society and the wider economy.
