CIMA responds to tsunami disaster.

The institute's Sri Lanka Division is working together with CIMA president Roland Kaye to find ways for members to help those worst affected by the recent Asian tsunami.

Upali Ratnayake and his Colombo-based team are planning to identify projects to rebuild schools destroyed in Galle, Jaffna and Trincomallee, to which contributions from CIMA members, students and staff worldwide could be channelled. The institute will publish further details shortly.

Sri Lanka Division has confirmed the deaths of two CIMA members: Palitha Silva Gunawardene, director-general of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (and a former member of CIMA Sri Lanka council); and A Paraparan, senior manager of the supplies department at the People's Bank, whose wife and three daughters also perished.
