‘Closing down’ sale at Sutton Coldfield Mountain Warehouse but it may not be the end

Mountain Warehouse, which opened at the Princess Alice Retail Park in Sutton Coldfield in December 2019, is holding sale with signs in the window saying ‘Closing down Everything must go’

But a staff member at the shop which sits between Next and Costa Coffee at the rear of the popular shopping park indicated the sale may not be the end.

When asked about the shop closing, the staff member said: “We are not fully sure at the moment. I can’t imagine it closing before mid to late February.

“It is all to do with negotiations on the lease. If they fall through we will be closing down.”

The store bills itself as the ‘UK’s largest’ camping, hiking, snow sport, cycling and fitness chain when it opened in the former Kutchenhaus Kitchen showroom site just before Christmas 2019.

It was then said to have 10 staff.

The store, like other retail units, has had a stop-start period during the coronavirus pandemic being forced to close for months. But now, with restrictions lifting, the store’s days may be numbered.

BirminghamLive has approached Mountain Warehouse’s PR team for further comment but has yet to hear back despite multiple requests for a comment.
