Pursuant to paragraph 13 of Practice Direction: Committal for Contempt of Court – Open Court

In the County Court sitting at Preston on 24 July 2020

In the matter of Together Housing Association Limited v Mr Donald Taylor – case number F01ZP898

District Judge Burrow sentenced Donald Taylor to a suspended committal order for contempt of court. The basis of that sentence was that Donald Taylor admitted breaching an Order made by the court on 21 January 2020 and amended on 9 April 2020 and 16 April 2020 (“the injunction order”). The breaches admitted and sentences imposed were as follows:

  1. Allowing or permitting visitors to his property on two occasions in breach of paragraph 1 of the injunction order – a sentence of 28 days imposed for each breach.
  2. Playing loud music and using words likely to cause nuisance, annoyance, harassment, alarm or distress in breach of paragraph 2 of the injunction order – a sentence imposed of 28 days.

The court directed that the sentences should run concurrently resulting in a total committal order of 28 days and that this should be suspended until 4.00pm on 9 April 2021 on condition of Donald Taylor’s future compliance with the injunction order.
