Abstract
Purpose –This paper aimsto provide a framework that might be used to tackle the multifacetedchallenges
facing humanity, which are increasingin seriousness and complexity. The Millennium Project had identified
such challenges, and over time periods until and including 2050, which pose the question, how would societies
cope with these challenges averting anydisastrous results? contemplating the suggested ethical principles,
and the three central beliefs of “end-based”,“rule-based”and“care-based”. In some cases, individuals might
not be blamed to think that “it is only a miracle”thatmight save humanity.
Design/methodology/approach –This paper, through the use of literaturereview, intends to provide
an insight into these challenges, the suggested ethical principles and the three central beliefs, providing brief
overview of the concept “miracle”leading to discussion on ethical mindsets, its components and their
dimensions.
Findings –Concludingwith framework for the way forward tacklingthese challenges.
Research limitations/implications –The limitation of thispaper might lie in the fact that it is only a
conceptualpaper, but it calls on researchers to conduct further research using the suggestedframework.
Originality/value –This might seem to be forward thinking, but it is a call for researchers to conduct
more research in this area, and for governments to fund such research, to allow forthe establishment of a
method to refine the mindsets of individuals aroundthe world to change into “ethical”, and thus, the world
becomesbetter equipped to face and reduce the challenges and threats that are being faced by the world.

challenges averting any disastrousresults? In some cases, individuals will not be blamed to
think that “it is only a miracle”which might save humanity from such challenges. This
paper intends to provide an insight intothese global challenges and threats as identified by
the UN,T.U.N (2019a, 2019b), the World Health Organization (WHO) (2019) and the
Millennium Project on the periods, 2005-2010, 2009, 2010-2025 and 2025-2050, followed by
what the experts in Bohm et al. (2009) derived from the history of moral philosophy drawn
from various disciplinesor categories that recognizes, among others, the threecentral beliefs
which are “end-based”,“rule-based”and “care-based”. In view thereof, this paper attempts to
provide a way forward to assist in tackling these global challenges and threat through
offering a discussion on ethical mindsets (Issa, 2009), leading into a framework that
