The news comes after a recent shortage of staff in warehousing and distribution networks significantly delayed delivery processes during weeks leading up to Christmas - one of the busiest times of the year for traders.

The shortage was caused by workers being forced to self-isolate during a sharp and rapid rise in Omicron cases.
