You could have been caught up in the Mandela effect, which some describe as a "glitch in the Matrix".

It was dubbed the Mandela Effect in 2010 after blogger Fiona Broome described a false memory of remembering Nelson Mandela to be dead.

At the time the South African leader was very much alive – but what spooked the masses was the fact Fiona was not alone.

Many others wrongly thought Mandela had died in prison – and thus, the Mandela Effect was named.

Fiona herself debated that it is a possibility that it could be proof of "parallel universes".

The effect doesn't just stop at Nelson Mandela as over the years many other popular films, logos, and songs have been remembered differently.

People complained they were experiencing the Mandela Effect after many remembered him to have a monocle, but he does not.

The boxing legend died in June 2016, but thousands of people do not believe this to be true.

At the time, they thought Ali was already dead!

At 73 he passed and his funeral was covered in headlines across the world.

Fiona Broome, a paranormal consultant and creator of the Mandela Effect, explains why she thinks this happens with such famous celebrities and their deaths.

She said: "Many of us — mostly total strangers — remember the exact same events with the exact same details. .

"However, our memories are different from what’s in history books, newspaper archives, and so on.

"This isn’t a conspiracy, and we’re not talking about ‘false memories’.

"Many of us speculate that parallel realities exist, and we’ve been “sliding” between them without realising it.”
