31st December, 1956, certain provisions of
the
Clean
Air Act, 1956, were
brought
into operation.
This
order
brings into operation on
the
rst
June, 1958,
the
remaining
provisions of
the
Act, including those relating to
the
prohibi-
tion of dark smoke from chimneys, measures for dealing
with
grit
and
dust
from furnaces, abatement of smoke nuisances
and
the
aI?plication of
the
Act to railway engines, vessels
and
Crown
premises.

By this
order
section 18 (2) of
the
Road Traffic Act, 1956,
(which deals
with
increased fees for provisional driving
licences), was
brought
into operation on

March, 1958.
The
validity is extended to six months.
