Cybercrime stalls uptake of mobile payments.

Nearly half of UK consumers polled by KPMG said they were unlikely to use mobile phones to pay for over-the-counter goods. Of the 2,000 people surveyed, 40 per cent said that security fears were a deterrent. Concerns among 18 to 34 year olds were lower-20 per cent said they were likely to use the new technology, compared with 11 per cent of over 35s.

The insecurity of personal details was a major issue among 35 to 54 year olds-43 per cent said this was a reason for not considering mobile payments.
