Czech Republic decide against Edinburgh base for Euro 2020 due to Covd-19 fears

With the Euros due to start in only a couple of weeks the Czechs were due to fly into Scotland.

However, their training camp at the Oriam in Heriot-Watt University's Riccarton campus in Edinburgh has been cancelled at the last minute.

With Covid-19 infections rising and Nicola Sturgeon deliberating on which areas to place up and down levels the Czechs decided to be safe and stay at home to prepare.

A spokesperson said: "The Czech national team will spend the whole UEFA Euro 2020 tournament in Prague instead of the base camp in Edinburgh as it was planned originally.

"It's all due to the Covid-19 restrictions and rules in Scotland.

"We will (fly) to each of our group stage matches separately.

"One positively tested member of the team would mean the quarantine for the whole team as Scotland's restrictions say right now. It doesn't go along with the UEFA Return to Play Protocol."
