Dogs' sheepish reactions to cats 'ruling the house' leave viewers in stitches

Although pooches have a reputation for being fierce and loyal defenders of the home, it seems a sassy feline can prove more than a match for even a large Doberman or golden retriever.
Even more bizarrely, a tiny kitten barely the size of a human hand ends up the top-dog in more than one hilarious scene.
Golden retriever forced to cuddle attention-seeking cat
In this first video, uploaded on TikTok by user @gambitthegolden and playable at the top of this page, a grumpy golden retriever has to put up with a black cat who has clearly never heard of personal space.
The new cat called Luna, recently adopted from a shelter, has the run of the whole house but for some reason insists on snuggling up to the dog whenever possible.
Unsure of what to make of the furry intruder, Gambit the golden snarls at Luna. Unfortunately, she doesn't quite get the message and licks his ears affectionately.
Gambit's other attempts to intimidate the cat by swatting her with a paw fail miserably too, with the feline totally unbothered.
Luna keeps using Gambit as a heated pillow and, eventually, he accepts his new role in life and the two become friends.
The video was watched more than 3.5 million times on TikTok, attracting hundreds of comments in the process.
One viewer joked: "The first time I see hating retriever and friendly cat hahaha is like the world is upside down."
"I love how relentlessly unapologetically unbothered the cat is," quipped a second fan.
Someone else remarked: "Why is he even angry I would love to have a fluffy ball of warmth that ants to cuddle."

In this next clip, shared on TikTok by user @thekendallmariec, a pooch called Junior is chilling out in a hallway when a tabby cat gives him an unexpected slap.
The cat, called Joe Dirt, starts off the assault by edging forwards slowly, while the dog watches with a sense of unease as if half aware of what is coming.
When it is right in front of the pooch, the tabby gently touches his paw with his own.
Suddenly, the cat whacks the dog full-on in the face and leaps back before his startled victim even has time to retaliate.
The cheeky cat then out-stares the dog, despite their huge difference in size and strength.
Predictably, the hilarious video was watched more than 5.7 million...
