Editors’ note on the Best
Review Prize 2022
With the ambition to fully acknowledge the crucial and important work of reviewers, the
editors of Cooperation and Conflict continue its tradition to award a Best Review Prize
of €1000 to one extraordinary reviewer of the year. The prize was awarded for the first
time in 2017 and will continue to be awarded annually for the best review of an article,
or set of articles, published in the previous year’s volume of the journal.
In connection with the special issue on ‘IR, Multiplicity and the Problematique of
Difference’, we are proud to announce that Professor Ole Wæver receives 2022’s Best
Review Prize for taking on the responsibility of reviewing original submissions of the
special issue and following up on manuscripts later on in the process. As a reviewer, Ole
has shared his broad knowledge of, and insights to, the field of International Relations at
hand and generously provided encouraging and constructive yet critical comments to
guide the authors and to help them situate their contribution to the broad field of IR
scholarship. As per the specified criteria for the Best Review Prize, Ole’s efforts as a
reviewer have strengthened and refined the theoretical originality and arguments of the
articles, enhanced methodological rigour and helped bring out the empirical richness of
the reviewed manuscripts. Thus, Ole has successfully acted as a kind, insightful yet criti-
cal and constructive reviewer in relation to individual submissions and assisted the
authors to make broader connections and provide reflections to the future of the field of
IR. In light of this, it is our great pleasure to give Cooperation and Conflict’s Best Review
Prize 2022 to Professor Ole Wæver. The review of the articles in the special issue on ‘IR,
Multiplicity and the Problematique of Difference’ is published in this issue.
