Employers' HR failings spark war for accounting talent.

Poor talent management and a lack of technical knowledge are the biggest shortcomings affecting the quality of commercial finance functions, a new global survey has found.

A KPMG poll of more than 700 senior financial managers and CFOs found that only 15 per cent considered their employers to be "very skilled" or "very strong" at managing the accounting talent at their disposal.

Many respondents also reported that their organisations lacked the ability to help their finance departments become business partners, rather than mere scorekeepers. As a result, companies were poaching talent from each other instead of nurturing their own people.
