The European Parliamentary Elections Act 1999 (Commencement) Order 1999

Made 10th March 1999

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 of the European Parliamentary Elections Act 19991, hereby makes the following Order:–

S-1 This Order may be cited as the European Parliamentary Elections...

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the European Parliamentary Elections Act 1999 (Commencement) Order 1999.

(2) In this Order “the Act” means the European Parliamentary Elections Act 1999.

S-2 Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3), sections 1 to 4 (together...

2.—(1) Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3), sections 1 to 4 (together with Schedules 1 to 4) of the Act shall come into force on 1st May 1999.

(2) So much of section 1 of, and Schedule 2 to, the Act as confers any power to make subordinate legislation shall come into force on 16th March 1999.

(3) For the purposes only of determining the area which a Member of the European Parliament which is in existence when sections 1 to 4 (together with Schedules 1 to 4) of the Act come into force represents, those provisions shall not have effect until the first sitting of the European Parliament which replaces that Parliament.
