House of Lords hosts lecture on responsible investment

13 November, London

The latest event in the "Tomorrow's value" lecture series run by CIN1A and think-tank Tomorrow's Company took place at the House of Lords.

The keynote speaker at this annual parliamentary reception was Paul Feeney (pictured, below), chief executive of Old Mutual Wealth, the investment arm of the FTSE-100 group Old Mutual. He pointed out that 20 per cent of people retiring in the UK in 2013 would have done so below the poverty line. Feeney also revealed how he was transforming the business in order to achieve greater sustainability and to "enable positive futures for clients, investors, employees and communities".

Fiona Reynolds, managing director of the UN-backed initiative Principles for Responsible Investment, then outlined what Feeney's story meant in a wider context, asking: "Can we really build a stable financial system when we have a system that rewards people for creating opaque investments?"

The parliamentary reception renewed CIMA's tradition of hosting high-quality events at memorable locations, while bringing together influential and outstanding leaders in business and beyond from across the world.
