Ex-Magpies youngster McNall signs for Spartans MARK CARRUTHERS

McNall was seen as one of the most promising players to come through the Magpies academy and played a key role in the run to the FA Youth Cup sixth round in 2017.

The prolific forward scored goals in wins over Portsmouth and Swansea City before grabbing a memorable late strike to secure a 4-3 victory at local rivals Sunderland in the fifth round.

McNall scored two more goals in the fifth round but could not prevent the young Magpies from falling to a 5-3 defeat against a Spurs side containing the likes of Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp.

He took the next stage in his development when he joined Gateshead on loan during the second half of the 2017/18 National League season.

A series of serious injuries led to McNall's release in the summer of 2018, and he had trained with Gateshead before joining Ebac Northern League club Whickham to gain match fitness.
