FarEwEll to rEtiring aES adminiStrator
Judy Pearce resigned as Administrator of the Australasian
Evaluation Society at the end of September, concluding a
decade of service.
Many of us have got to know Judy in our interactions with
her on membership matters, AES activities and in finding
out answers to questions. Judy has undoubtedly been the
cornerstone of the Society through her work in maintaining
the Secretariat services. She has played an invaluable role
in the organisation of workshops and activities for Society
members. The website and the flow of communication for
the AES has also been a major feature in Judy’s work for the
Society.
We are indeed very fortunate to have had Judy’s diligence
and skill in maintaining the administration of the Society
for so many years. As an organisation, we have been well
supported with sound administrative systems and accurate,
reliable reporting on finances and activities. This has, in turn,
upheld the reputation of the Society.
Judy’s open and frank approach in advising the AES Board
has been greatly appreciated. Her ability to recall the detail
of past events and decisions has made our governance
processes run more smoothly.
It is perhaps the personal qualities that Judy has often
displayed that most of us will recall—her humour, her
warmth in welcoming new members and her enthusiasm for
the work of the AES.
We are now in very good shape as the Society proceeds to
expand and we all have much to thank Judy for—and to
wish her and Neil all the very best for the future and for a
happy and fulfilling retirement.

ExEcutivE oFFicEr For thE aES
The AES is pleased to announce the appointment of its inaugural Executive Officer,
Maria Eliadis (pictured), who commenced in this role with the AES on 4 July 2011.
She has a fractional 0.6 appointment and will be assisted by the newly appointed
Administration and Membership Manager, Anita Newbery.
Maria presents us with a wonderful blend of competencies having been a member of
the AES, an evaluation consultant and a senior manager for professional membership
and not-for-profit organisations. Maria is based in Melbourne and will be establishing
a Melbourne-based office for the AES.
The AES is very pleased to have engaged Maria and looks forward to working with her
to achieve the objectives outlined in the AES Strategic Plan (2010–2020).
