EXTRADITION

The Extradition (Torture) (Bermuda) Order 1995

Made 13th December 1995

Laid before Parliament 22th December 1995

Coming into force 12th January 1996

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 13th day of December 1995

Present,

The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 21 of the Extradition Act 18701and sections 4(1), 22(3), 30(1) and 37(3) of the Extradition Act 19892or otherwise in Her Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

S-1 This Order may be cited as the Extradition (Torture) (Bermuda)...

1. This Order may be cited as the Extradition (Torture) (Bermuda) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 12th January 1996.

S-2 Schedule 5 to the Extradition (Torture) Order 1991 shall be...

2. Schedule 5 to the Extradition (Torture) Order 19913shall be amended by adding the following entry:—

Bermuda.

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order extends to Bermuda the operation of the Extradition (Torture) Order 1991, in implementation of the Convention Against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on 10th December 19844.
