It is usually treatable with antihistamines but doctors decided to try Omalizumab when no other medications seemed to work.

It was the first time that this form of therapy had been carried out on a child at the hospital as it is usually administered to adults.

Consultant Paediatrician Dr Paul Watson said: "It's not common to give this therapy to children and Connie is the first paediatric patient we have given this to at our hospital trust.
