The Fees for Cinema Licences (Variation) Order 1986

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 3(8) of the Cinemas Act 1985(a), I hereby make the following Order:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Fees for Cinema Licences (Variation) Order 1986 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1986.

2. Section 3(7) of the Cinemas Act 1985 shall have effect as if —

(a) for the sum "£82.00" in both places where it occurs, there were substituted the sum "£173.50";

(b) for the sum "£27.50", there were substituted the sum "£58.00"; and

(c) for the sum "£16.50", there were substituted the sum "£35.00".

3. This Order does not extend to Scotland.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This Note is not part of the Order.)

This Order increases the maximum fees payable for the grant, renewal and transfer of licences issued under section 1 of the Cinemas Act 1985 for the use of premises in England and Wales for the purpose of film exhibitions.

The maximum fees for the grant or renewal of a licence for a year are increased from £82 to £173.50, for the grant or renewal of a licence for monthly periods are increased from £27.50 to £58.00 for each month (subject to a maximum in any one year of £173.50)...
