The Fiduciary Note Issue (Extension of Period) Order 1980

The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 2(7) of the Currency and Bank Notes Act 1954(a) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Fiduciary Note Issue (Extension of Period) Order 1980, and shall come into operation on 14th March 1980.

2. The period of two years during which, by virtue of section 2(7) of the Currency and Bank Notes Act 1954, the fiduciary note issue may stand at amounts continuously exceeding fifteen hundred and seventy-five million pounds, as extended by the Fiduciary Note Issue (Extension of Period) Order 1978(b), shall be further extended by a period of two years beginning with 14th March 1980.

3. The Fiduciary Note Issue (Extension of Period) Order 1978 is hereby revoked.
