The Firemen's Pension Scheme (Amendment) Order 1966

In exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 26 of the Fire Services Act 1947(a), I hereby, with the approval of the Treasury and after consultation with the Central Fire Brigades Advisory Council and the Scottish Central Fire Brigades Advisory Council, make the following Order:—

1.—(1) For paragraph (2)(a) of Article 4 of the Firemen's Pension Scheme 1966, set out in Appendix 2 to the Firemen's Pension Scheme Order 1966(b), (which provides that any relevant injury benefit payable under the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act 1965(c) shall be taken into account for the purposes of determining entitlement to, and the amount of, a fireman's special pension) there shall be substituted the following provision:—

"(a) any injury benefit payable under the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act 1965 which relates to the qualifying injury together with any supplement payable therewith under section 2 of the National Insurance Act 1966(d);".

(2) For paragraph (2)(c) of the said Article 4 (which provides that any sickness benefit payable under the National Insurance Act 1965(e) on retirement shall be taken into account for the purposes aforesaid) there shall be substituted the following provision:—

"(c) any sickness benefit payable under the National Insurance Act 1965 until the first day after his retirement which is not, or is deemed not to be, a day of incapacity for work under section 20 of the said Act or regulations made thereunder, together with any supplement thereto payable under section 2 of the National Insurance Act 1966.".

2. This Order may be cited as the Firemen's Pension Scheme (Amendment) Order 1966 and shall come into operation on 6th October 1966.
