In exercise of the powers conferred on me by section twenty-six of the Fire Services Act, 1947(a), I hereby, with the approval of the Treasury and after consultation with the Central Fire Brigades Advisory Council and the Scottish Central Fire Brigades Advisory Council, make the following Order:—
1.—(1) In paragraph (2) of Article 15 of the Firemen's Pension Scheme, 1952, set out in the First Appendix to the Firemen's Pension Scheme Order, 1952(b), after the words "any such certificate" there shall be inserted the words "given before the fifteenth day of September, nineteen hundred and fifty-four".
(2) In paragraph (3) of the said Article after the words "any such certificate" there shall be inserted the words "given before the fifteenth day of September, nineteen hundred and fifty-four".
(3) At the end of the said Article there shall be added the following paragraph:—
"(12) If the said person has before the appointed day served in a fire brigade as a professional fireman as defined by paragraph (2) of section twenty-three of the Fire Brigade Pensions Act, 1925(c), and immediately before he so served he was serving as a probationer in that brigade, then his pensionable service for the purposes of this Scheme shall include his period of service as a probationer in that brigade if before

the fifteenth day of September, nineteen hundred and fifty-four, the fire authority by whom he is employed so allow and he undertakes to pay in accordance with the Eleventh Schedule to this Scheme a sum equal to five per cent. of £4 16s. in respect of each week of that period of service:
Provided that for the purposes of this paragraph no account shall be taken of any period during which he has served before attaining the age of twenty years.".
2. In the proviso to paragraph (3) of Article 19 of the said Scheme for the words "so allow" there shall be substituted the words "either so allow or are paid a sum under paragraph (2) of Article 41 of this Scheme".
3. After Article 19C of the said Scheme, there shall be inserted the following Article:—
"Certificates of pensionable service
19D.—(1) Where a fireman is entitled to reckon pensionable service for the purposes of this Scheme by virtue of sub-paragraph (a) of paragraph (1) of Article 14, of...
