In exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsections (1), (2) and (5) of section twenty-six of the Fire Services Act, 1947(a), I hereby, with the approval of the Treasury and after consultation with the Central Fire Brigades Advisory Council and the Scottish Central Fire Brigades Advisory Council, make the following Order:—
1. Paragraph (3) of Article 3 of the Firemen's Pension Scheme, 1956, set out in the Appendix to the Firemen's Pension Scheme, 1956(b) (which provides that a regular fireman who has not attained the age of twenty years shall not be entitled to an ill-health gratuity unless he is entitled to reckon as pensionable service certain service otherwise than as a regular fireman) shall be omitted.
2.—(1) In sub-paragraph (a) of Article 28 of the said Scheme of 1956 (which provides that a regular fireman shall be entitled to reckon service in his brigade after attaining the age of twenty years as pensionable service) the words "and after attaining the age of twenty years" shall be omitted.
(2) At the end of the proviso to the said Article 28 (which provides that certain service shall be excluded in the reckoning of pensionable service) there shall be added the following words, that is to say:—
"or
(iv) any period of service before attaining the age of twenty years before the third day of April, 1961.".
3. In paragraph (1) of Article 36 of the said Scheme of 1956 (which provides for the payment of pension contributions by regular firemen who have attained the age of twenty years) the words "who has attained the age of twenty years" shall be omitted and at the end thereof there shall be added the following proviso:—
"Provided that contributions shall not be payable by a regular fireman who is serving as such on the third day of April, 1961, unless and until he has attained the age of twenty years.".

4. This Order may be cited as the Firemen's Pension Scheme (No. 2) Order, 1960, and shall come into operation on the third day of April, 1961.
